A) One possible version:
Pen names are false names that writers use instead of their real names. Writers use pen names for several reasons. In the past, women used male pen names because it was difficult for them to get books published as women. Writers also use pen names to make their names unique and stylish. A good example is Samuel Clemens. He used the pen name Mark Twain. The name came from his past as a worker on a steamboat. “Mark twain” was the phrase he would shout if the river was safe to travel.
B) One possible version:
There are both advantages and disadvantages of going to see a live sports event compared to watching it at home on TV.
If you go to a live sports event, you can experience the excitement of the game. The game is much more alive and real than if you watch it on TV at home. You feel that if you yell louder then your team might actually have a greater chance of winning. Also, during breaks in play, you don’t have to watch any advertisements. However, there are some disadvantages of going to see a live sports event. If you go to a sports event you have to stay and watch the whole thing, whereas if you stay at home, you can change the channel whenever you want to. Also, watching sports events at home is more economical. It can save a lot of money.

Dear Michael,
Just a short letter to say “Hi,” and to tell you about a nice park I visited recently. The park is not very big, but everyone can find a place to enjoy themselves. There is a playground for the kids and also a vegetable growing area, a picnic area and a pond. I enjoy the vegetable growing area most because I have few opportunities  to go to the countryside to see how vegetables are grown. I believe you will enjoy the picnic area for you love sunshine so much. Let’s have a picnic in the park together sometime!
Well, that’s all for now.
Love,
Li Hua
B) One possible version:
I believe that not only educators but also students should be aware of the different forms of intelligence because only in this way can learners maximize their potential. Firstly, being aware of the different types of learners, teachers can use various teaching methods to make sure most of the students in the class are taught in the way which is most suitable for them. As well as this, learners who are clear about their strong points and weak points will make wiser decisions in choosing the right major in college and the right career in the future. In conclusion, people should respect the fact that differences in intelligence exist and choose the best way to educate themselves.
